3 & 5 Axis Milling Machinist - Colorado Springs, CO

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced 3 and 5 Axis Milling Machinist to join our dynamic team in Colorado Springs. As a key member of our manufacturing operations, you will be responsible for the precise setup, operation, and maintenance of advanced 3 and 5 axis milling machines. Your meticulous attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality components will directly contribute to our success.

Responsibilities:

• Expertly set up and operate 3 and 5 axis milling machines to produce precision parts according to stringent specifications.
• Accurately interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation to ensure precise machining.
• Conduct thorough inspections of finished products utilizing a variety of precision measurement tools to verify adherence to quality standards and specifications.
• Collaborate effectively with engineers and other team members to identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.

Qualifications:

Required Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree, military training, or certification in machining or a related field is highly preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience operating both 3 and 5 axis milling machines.
• Proven experience working with tight tolerances and producing precision parts.
• Solid understanding and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Demonstrated proficiency in using various metrology and measuring tools.
• Comprehensive knowledge of machining principles, techniques, and best practices.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a keen attention to detail.
• Strong ability to accurately read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.

Desired Experience:

• Experience with CAD/CAM software for programming and simulation.
• Familiarity with tool grinding processes and techniques.
• Experience operating Swiss-style lathes.
• Proficiency in using advanced metrology equipment, such as Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).
• Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) processes.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to safely lift and move materials weighing up to 35 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods while operating machinery.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for precise machine operation and handling of small parts.
